Selecting the Groomsmen ..

When it comes to choosing the groomsmen, it may be a difficult decision for the groom. Narrow down the groom's group of friends by focusing on the most reliable and closest friendships.

Brothers and future brothers-in-law are often chosen as groomsmen. Also, friends that the groom has a shared past with make an excellent choice.

If the groom is having a hard time making a decision -- considering who he has known the longest can help make the choice.

Another factor to consider would be the potential financial burden placed on the groomsmen and who would be able to afford the necessary expenses.

An alternative to a wedding attendant position could be to ask the friend to be an usher.

Many times the bride and groom want the number of wedding attendants to match but it isn't necessary. Also, it is not necessary for the groom to just have one best man. If the groom cannot decide between two close friends, it is acceptable to have them both stand up for him.

The groomsmen should help the groom leading up to the wedding and on the wedding day. Selecting who will best support the groom should be easier after taking the above tips into consideration.

When you are ready to schedule your wedding photographer, we hope you will call or text us at: (253)579-4040 or e-mail us today at: dana.lloyd.kehr@gmail.com

The Groom's Cake ...

Many little girls daydream about what type of cake they will serve at their wedding reception.

But the fact is, little boys don't spend any time dreaming about their grooms' cakes for their wedding celebration.

Yet, with the tradition gathering popularity in recent years, many grooms are now finding it necessary to decide on their vision of a perfect cake.

If your groom has some questions about what a groom's cake should be, here's a brief summary:

*  The groom's cake is a gift from the bride to the groom and is more masculine than the bride's wedding cake. Traditionally, it is a darker cake such as chocolate and is decorated or themed to something favored by the groom.

*  The groom's cake is most often displayed next to the bride's and is served as an alternative to the lighter cake. It can also be cut and boxed for the guests to take home. Boxing the groom's cake for the guests can be the wedding favor.

*  A groom's cake isn't necessary and you may find that it doesn't fit into your idea of a dream wedding. It's your choice.

Whatever you decide, the groom's cake can be an important element in your overall wedding ambience. And, we would like to be there to capture images of it and all the other elements that will make your day memorable.

Wedding Cake Toppers ...

Choosing the wedding cake topper is an opportunity to be creative and emphasis the theme of your wedding.

Whether you choose a traditional or whimsical option, your wedding cake should reflect you as a couple.

There are as many cake toppers ideas as there are varieties of wedding cakes. Here are a few to consider:

* Fresh flowers or fruits
* A silver monogram
* Traditional bride and groom figurine
* Collectible or curio from one of your shared travels
* Acrylic heart with etched names and wedding date
* Metal or silver carved figurine of a favorite hobby or animal
* Clay toppers made to resemble the bride and groom

If you still aren't sure what to put on top of your cake, ask your cake maker. They may have an original idea that will be perfect for your cake.

Your imagination is the limit when it comes to cake decorations. Keep in mind if you are special ordering an item to do so in enough time for it to arrive before the wedding day.

Planning the Menu for Your Wedding Reception ...

Deciding on the menu for your wedding reception can be daunting if you've never planned a meal for a large group of people.

Here are some ideas to consider:

*  You'll want to think about what time the meal will be served. Are you planning on an afternoon, outdoor event? If so, maybe a light buffet would fit your wedding ambiance. Or, if you are planning an evening reception, you may want to plan a formal sit down meal.

*  Also, you'll want to look at your budget. Your caterer can give you an idea of how much specific foods will cost per person. If you're envisioning filet mignon and your budget is only $5 per person, you may need to re-think the steak. More affordable menu ideas include a dessert bar or only serving appetizers.

*  Traditionally, couples serve hot and cold menu items. Many couples are also considering including non-red meat options as well as a vegetarian meal.

*  Once you and your fiance have chosen menu items that you both enjoy, look at the entire proposed menu to see if you've left any items out. Have a bridesmaid or the mother of the bride look over it also to see if anything is missing.

*  One final note, always ask your caterer to sample the reception menu. You'll want to know how it will taste. You won't want any menu surprises on the wedding day.

To plan your wedding photos or videos, please call or text us at: (253)579-4040 or e-mail us today at: dana.lloyd.kehr@gmail.com

Wedding Ring Metals ...

As soon as you tell people that you are engaged, the most common next question will be, "May I see your ring?"

You'll want to dazzle all those question-askers with a fabulous engagement ring.

Now, while you may already know the Four C's of Diamonds, your metal options also deserve some consideration.

*  Yellow gold is traditional and popular. The hue of yellow gold is complimentary to most skin tones and is the most cost-efficient. A 24k gold wedding ring is made of the purest and most expensive gold, but it is also the softest gold so it will nick easily.

*  White gold is an option if you prefer the shine of platinum but can't afford the cost. It is a nice middle-ground to gold and platinum. Rings can be made of both white and yellow gold in braided and carved designs.

*  Platinum is the hardest metal which makes it the most durable. It also makes it the most expensive. Platinum has a silver sheen which helps make white diamonds appear even brighter.

*  Titanium is gaining popularity as an engagement ring metal. It is light-weight and strong. Titanium has a silvery-white color.

Whatever you metal you choose your engagement ring is sure to impress everyone who sees it.

We'd like your wedding photos to be just as impressive as your jewelry.

Terminology for Wedding Ring Settings

When you set out to buy an engagement ring, knowing the terminology will help you narrow down your choices quickly and ensure that you find the engagement ring of your dreams.

Here's some terminology that may help with the many options that are available for ring settings:

*  Prong Setting - Typically holds a solitaire diamond. Prongs are thin metal strands attached to the ring's center. They display the diamond higher up.

*  Luster Setting - Small diamonds are patterned in a circular or flower "cluster" at the center of the ring's head.

*  Bezel Setting - A strip of metal starts around the outside edge of the diamond and wraps until it attaches to the ring base.

*  Channel Settings - A ridged channel contains a row of round diamonds. The diamond's edges are not exposed.

*  Pave Setting - The entire exterior surface of the ring is covered with diamonds giving it a "paved" effect.

*  Flush Setting - The diamond, or row of diamonds, is mounted flush with the ring surface.

Find the right fit for ring settings by knowing your engagement ring terminology before you start shopping.

We'd love to help you with even more wedding shopping and planning ideas.

Lighting the Unity Candle ...

The Unity Candle is being included in more and more ceremonies.

If you are considering using a Unity Candle in yours, here are a few thoughts to help you decide:

* The Unity Candle symbolizes the coming together of the couple from two separates to a whole. During the ceremony, the couple each takes a smaller lit candle and simultaneously lights a larger candle. The couple either leaves the smaller candles lit to symbolize that the couple retains their individuality or they can be blown out.

* Here's a variation on the Unity Candle. Each guest is given a small candle. The flame is then passed from guest to guest and finally passed on to the bride's and groom's candles. They then light the unity candle. This symbolizes that the support of all the friends and family is needed in the couple's new union.

A Unity Candle can add special meaning to your ceremony. If you're planning on including a Unity Candle in your ceremony, please let us know. As your wedding photographers we'd like to capture the moment for you to cherish for years to come.

P.S. Just a word of caution, if you're using a Unity Candle in your ceremony, put someone in charge of bringing the matches. I've seen a couple have to stop the ceremony to ask for a light. It was memorable -- for all the wrong reasons.

Pre-Marriage Counseling ...

Learning how to communicate with your intended spouse is an important part of the engagement process. Many couples may need a little outside help to work on this process. Pre-wedding counseling can help even the happiest of couples as they learn to more effectively work together.

Many religious groups offer pre-wedding counseling and your officiant may even require it before he or she will perform the ceremony. Other options for some life-coaching may be a psychologist, a marriage and family therapist, or a college or university that offers a pre-marriage workshop.

Talking through potential issues before the wedding, such as, religion, children, finances, and family issues with a trusted professional will help lay the foundation of open communication for the rest of your marriage.

Start your life together by working together as a team on the wedding planning.
When you are working on your wedding plans, we would love to meet with you to discuss your wedding photography expectations.

Selecting Your Veil ...

Traditionally veils were worn to ward off evil spirits; nowadays they're much more likely to be a fashion statement than a protector.

Whatever the reason you choose to wear a veil, there are some important factors to consider when finding the right veil or for you.

* If you are wearing an ornate dress, stick with a simpler veil and vice versa. Also, if your veil has ornamentation it should start below any on the dress. And if you want the back of your dress to be prominent, wear a shorter veil.

* Your veil should compliment your dress from the front and the back so be sure to get a full back view of the veil with your dress.

* If you decide that a veil isn't right for you, consider a tiara, sparkly barrettes, flowers, or hairpins as alternatives.

As your wedding photographer, we'll be there to capture all the details of your wedding attire.

Planning Your Honeymoon ...

Where you're staying and what to pack for the honeymoon are important.

But perhaps even more important to cutting down stress is planning ahead to get along with your new spouse.

After months of wedding preparation culminating in the big day, the honeymoon is a chance to relax and enjoy one another's company.

Agree on a budget beforehand. You don't want to be stuck being the person who keeps having to say, "We can't afford that" while you're on vacation.

If there is an expensive activity that you or your spouse don't want to miss, discuss it before so that no one is disappointed when the budgeted money is gone, and the number one item on the "to do" list hasn't been crossed off.

Also, plan a little down-time into the trip. You're just coming off a very exciting and busy few months. If you plan every second of every day, you'll be so rushed you won't have a chance to enjoy having a vacation together.

Keep in mind that you can spend some time alone. If your spouse needs a nap and you would rather sunbathe by the pool, it's okay to take a little time for yourself.

Perhaps, most of all, remember you have paid a lot of money for this trip: Enjoy it! This is your first vacation as husband and wife. You'll want to look back on it as stress-free celebration of your new marriage.

Bring back some snapshots from your honeymoon - and we can help you place those in your wedding album when you return. Our new coffee-table style albums are VERY popular right now and we are excellent designers. All your friends will want one like yours if we do it!

Hope to hear from you soon. We want to be your wedding photographers.

Having a Junior Bridesmaid?

Having a junior bridesmaid is a fantastic way to include a special girl in your wedding.

*  Attends the bridal shower and help clean up and
*  Helps with any favor making.
*  Dress is similar or the same as the bridesmaids.
*  Attends ceremony rehearsal and rehearsal dinner.
*  Hands out programs and favors.
*  Walks down the aisle in the procession.
*  Stands in the receiving line.

Suggestions to help your ring bearer and flower girl ...

If you have a special child in your life, being a flower girl or ring bearer will include and distinguish him or her.

If you choose to have a flower girl and/or ring bearer, here are some ideas to keep in mind:

*  The child should ideally be between 4 and 8 years old.
*  Rehearse walking down the aisle with the child and explain what is going on so they'll feel comfortable at the ceremony.
*  Seat the parents in a place where the child can see them.
*  Assign a member of the bridal party to the child to help keep an eye on him or her.
*  Suggest to the parents that they bring a change of clothes so the child won't have to remain in formal wear all evening.

Should any mishaps occur, the guests will most likely think the child is cute rather than that the ceremony is ruined. Including children can add special meaning to your ceremony.

If you'd like us to capture the special moments of your wedding celebration -- either in photos or video, or both -- we sincerely hope you'll contact us at: dana.lloyd.kehr@gmail.com  or at: (253)579-4040 direct or text.

Picking Out a China Set to Last a Lifetime!

Narrowing down your china selection can be easy when you consider that it commonly comes in two basic colors - bright white bone china or creamy ivory fine china.

Once you have decided the color you'd like, continue to narrow down your selection by the accent colors, silver or gold. If you decide beforehand what you'll want for your color scheme, you will only have half as many patterns you need to choose from.

Think long-term when you're picking out your china. You may not need all the accessories right now, but in the future, a gravy boat may come in handy.

When registering, consider all the ways you will use your china, including how many guest you will typically be serving.

Much like your marriage, your wedding china will last a lifetime, choose a pattern that will stand the test of time.

And, be sure and select a wedding photographer whose photos will stand that same test of time.

Planning the Table Seating Arrangements ...

The logistics of placing guests at tables so that everyone has a good time at your wedding can be an intimidating task. But it doesn't have to be if you plan ahead and use these tips.

Once you've received your response cards, you'll want to get started on arranging the seating as soon a possible so you're not stressed and rushing to get it done at the last minute.

Depending on how you would like your reception set up, you may want a separate bridal table. At this table the bridal party and their guests will sit as well along with the bride and groom. Sometimes instead of this table, each guest table is left with two open seats so the bride and groom can sit and visit with each table.

Family tables are also popular. At these tables the parents of the bride and the parents of the groom "host" a table where their family members and close friends sit.

The other tables should be a mix of guests - family, friends, work associates, etc. Putting acquaintances together will make for a more enjoyable evening for your guests but it is okay to mix it up a bit. If you have invited a solo guest, place them at a table with other guests they will know.

Your reception should be an enjoyable event for you and your guests, placing them at a table where they will feel comfortable and welcome will let them know how appreciative you are that they attending your wedding.

As your wedding photographers, we'll be there to capture all the festivities at the guests' tables as well as at your bridal table.

Preparing Wedding Invitations ...

Wedding etiquette dictates most aspects of wedding planning and the invitation wording is no exception.

So, here's a handy little guide to help as you prepare your invites:

*  If the invitation is addressed to one person - Only that person is invited.

*  If the invitation is addressed to one person "and guest" - The invitee may bring a date of their choice. On the response card, the invitee will indicate the guest's name so that items, such as the place card, can be personalized.

*  If the invitation is addressed to one person and their significant other - children are not invited. The response card should indicate who us attending.

*  If the invitation is addressed to one person, the significant other, and children's names or "and children" or "and family". The invitation may also read, "To the [Guest's Name] Family" - All family members are invited and the response card should indicate the exact number who will be attending.

Following these etiquette guidelines will help your guests know who exactly is invited. And having as exact a number of attendees as possible will help you as you prepare the seating chart and finalize the menu.

When you are getting ready to select your wedding photographer, there are some simple things you must also know.

That's why I've written a new report titled: "The Seven Secrets You Must Know When Choosing Your Wedding Photographer!" It is packed with insider information that will help you as you decide who is the best-matched photographer for your wedding.
