Insuring Your Wedding Rings ...

Your wedding and engagement rings are more than just a symbol of your never-ending love as a couple, they're also an investment. And, like any investment, you should consider protecting it. Insure your wedding ring to cover it from partial damage to theft.

You can cover your ring with a rider to your homeowners insurance or have it on its own policy. As you add more jewelry to your collection, be sure to update your policy.

Also, read your policy carefully to clearly understand your policy and that it has the full coverage you desire.

You'll feel comfortable knowing that your rings are as protected as your never-ending love when you insure you ring.

You can also ensure your wedding memories are protected as well -- by using Northwest Wedding Photos for your wedding photography and wedding video.

Mother of the Bride Duties ...

Need help determining what role your mother should play in the wedding planning?

These suggestions will help you and her know what help to expect. So, she could:

5.  Sit at the parents' table at the reception

You may want to expand your mother's role in your wedding planning -- but the above tips are a great place to start.

Using "Save-the-Date" Cards ...

Increasingly popular, save-the-date cards help inform your guests of your wedding before the formal invitation is sent. They are especially helpful if you are planning a destination wedding or if the wedding date is on a holiday weekend.

The save-the-date card can be as informal or formal as you desire. All it has to include are the date and location of the wedding. If an exact location hasn't been chosen yet, the city and state are enough information. Include the phrase, "Formal invitation to follow."

Some of our brides like to print an informal portrait of the couple on one side of the card.

Send the card at least six months before the wedding date -- but if your details are already planned, the sooner you send the card, the better. That will make it easier for your guests to plan their schedules so they can attend.

If many of your guests will be arriving from out of town, helpful information to include with the save-the-date card will be hotel, airfare and transportation information.

Letting your guests know your wedding date by sending save-the-date cards will enable more people to share your special day with you.

And, we hope you choose us to capture all the wedding memories in beautiful photographs.

What the Mother of the Bride Should Wear ...

Being the Mother of the Bride distinguishes your mom. So, you need to make sure her outfit helps her stand out for the right reasons.

When the Mother of the Bride is shopping for her dress, she should know what your vision of the day is and try to fit into that. She should also match the formality of the bridal party.

Most moms know that they shouldn't wear black, white, or cream -- but if you have a specific color in mind, let her know. She doesn't need to match the bridal party's color (unless you would like her to) but her color shouldn't clash.

Another thing for your mom to consider when picking her outfit, is what the Mother of the Groom is wearing. They don't need to match exactly but their dresses should compliment each other.

We'll look forward to photographing your mom and all the others in your bridal party. Please call or text us at: (253)579-4040 or e-mail us today at: dana.lloyd.kehr@gmail.com

Your international travels should be a time of exploration and relaxation.

You should bring along with you:
*  Your Passport

Planning an International Honeymoon?

When you travel out of the country, planning for your honeymoon requires a few extra steps. Be prepared by following these easy tips:

*  Ask your travel agent if a passport and/or visa are required for your destination.

*  Your passport and tickets should be in your maiden name. (Change your name after returning home.)

*  Bring a photocopy of the passport's data page, date and place of issuance, and passport number.

*  Leave a photocopy of the passport's data page, date and place of issuance, and passport number with a trusted person at home.

*  Bring extra passport photos in case you need to replace a lost or stolen passport at a U.S. Embassy.

You should return home from your international travels with many wild and interesting stories, follow the above hints so that none of those stories include being stuck trying to get back into the States.

We'd love to hear about your wedding plans and honeymoon travels ...

Guest Book Ideas ...

Remembering who shared your wedding day with you is important to many couples and the easiest way to remember this important information is to have a guest book.

Most often, guest books are signed as guests arrive at the reception. You should place it in a prominent place and have a friend or usher asks guests to sign as they enter.

Your guest book should reflect you and your overall wedding theme. It can be a book that people sign and share thoughts or have a less traditional book. Have the guest book attendant take polaroids of each guest to place in a book or ask the videographer to have each guest say a short message and make it into a video.

When you schedule a wedding with Northwest Wedding Photos, you'll receive a free engagement photo session. We will provide an 8" x 10" engagement print from that session mounted in an 16" x 20" matted frame. This popular feature is ideal for guests to sign at the reception and it makes a great visual keepsake.

To find out more, please call or text us today at: (253)579-4040 or e-mail us at: dana.lloyd.kehr@gmail.com

"Here's to You!"

Traditionally, the best man and maid of honor give a toast at the reception to the bride and groom.

For people not used to public speaking, this can be nerve-racking. You can make it easy on your wedding attendants by passing on these helpful tips:

*  Speak about what the day means to the couple.
*  Share how you feel about the couple and marriage.
*  Tell a funny story about the couple. (Remember this is a toast, not a roast, so don't make fun of them.)
*  Speak about both the bride and groom.
*  Have the toast prepared beforehand and practice it.

Even if you attendants aren't practiced public speakers, their toast will make the day even more special by sharing what is in their hearts.

As your wedding photographers, we'd like to capture the emotions shared during the toast for you to remember long after the glasses have clinked.

Shoes Make the Outfit Complete!

With the traditional long wedding dress, your shoes may not be seen by every guest -- but if you're like most women, the shoes make the difference.

And your wedding outfit is one of the most important ensembles you'll put together. So you'll want to choose wisely.

Now, whether you select a classy pump or kicky sneakers -- you'll want to consider the style, cost, and comfort of each pair of shoes.

For a "perfect fit", here are some ideas to consider:

*  Shop later in the day. After a long day at work, you'll get a better idea of the right size.

*  Consider the heel height. Is it right for your dress length? Will you be able to stand comfortably in them all day?

*  Take a friend and a camera. An honest friend's opinion can be very helpful. Also, take pictures so at home you can see if the shoes will match your dress.

*  Break the shoe in before the wedding day. You don't want to go slipping and sliding on the dance floor (unless of course your DJ is playing the "Electric Slide").

We'd love to capture your perfect ensemble from head to toe. Hope to hear from you soon.

Planning Your Home Together ...

With all the excitement of wedding planning, thinking about what happens the day after the honeymoon may not be your top priority. But with your  wedding comes a marriage and a new life together.

You'll find that when you move in together, it is often easier to start fresh in a new place. If possible, this makes it easier to start new routines rather than try to re-work old ones.

Discuss finances. Decide beforehand how household finances will be split or covered.

When the dishes and laundry are piling up may not be the best time to duke it out about who does what chore. Sit down and figure out who will be responsible for each job or how you will rotate the chores.

Talk about where things will go. When you combine two households, often stuff needs to be sorted and possibly tossed. Talk about what amount of space you'll have and how you'll be dividing it.
Have a plan when you begin living together to make the transition easier and more enjoyable. Your new life together will be as happy and joyful as your wedding day.

I highly recommend working with your clergy regarding a "pre-marital" class. Most offer these. You'll find them very helpful in sorting out these things.

Now, when you plan out your new living space together, don't forget to plan a place for all your fabulous wedding photos. You'll want to display them either beautifully framed or in an album.
Please call or text us at: (253)579-4040 or e-mail us today at: dana.lloyd.kehr@gmail.com

How to plan your rehearsal dinner ...

Casual or formal, your rehearsal dinner should suit you.

For most, the rehearsal dinner takes place directly following the wedding rehearsal.

Traditionally, the groom's parents pay for the rehearsal dinner. But, many couples choose to pay for the event themselves or sometimes, both sets of parents will contribute.

The wedding party and their dates should all be invited to the rehearsal dinner as well as parents, grandparents, and siblings of the bride and groom. Having all your wedding attendants together at the dinner is a great place to distribute thank you gifts.

You may also want to invite your out-of-town guests to join you.

Whether the event is laid back or high brow, enjoy the intimate gathering of friends and family before the big day.

Just like your attendants, we'd love to do a "rehearsal" by doing a walk thru of your venue prior to the wedding day. Gives us a good idea about where certain parts of the ceremony will take place, the equipment we'll need, photo ideas, etc.

Your Wedding Itinerary ...

Making sure that each of your wedding party knows what to expect will not only make them feel included, it will also help the festivities run smoothly.

Giving your wedding party a schedule of events for the entire wedding celebration will make their lives (and yours) much easier.

When you start writing the itinerary -- start from the very beginning of the wedding festivities and work through all the events.

Are they supposed to be at the wedding location at a certain time for the rehearsal? The rehearsal dinner? Are there events planned at the rehearsal dinner at a certain time like toasts and gift giving?
On the day of the wedding, what time do they need to be dressed and ready?

Are they expected to take part in certain events during the reception?

Plan ahead so you won't be searching for your maid of honor when it comes time to throw the bouquet.

Include with the itinerary any maps or directions the wedding party may need. Also, consider giving the itinerary and maps to family members who aren't in the bridal party but who will be included in many of the wedding events.

As your wedding photographer, we'd love a copy of the itinerary as well so we'll be sure to capture each special event on your wedding day.

Get the ratings for your honeymoon hotel ...

Hotels and Restaurants in the United States are rated with either stars or diamonds. When you plan your honeymoon, you'll want to know how that system works so you'll know what you're getting before you get there.

In the U.S., two major sources rate hotels and restaurants. AAA Tour Books scores on a scale of one to five diamonds and the Mobil Travel Guide series scores with one to five stars. Five stars or diamonds are the best ratings. Hotels and restaurants are visited by anonymous inspectors who rate on everything from what amenities are offered to the style of food in the restaurant.

Out of the country, the rating system is different. In Europe, for example, the governments' tourist boards run the rating system. And in the Caribbean and Asia there is no standardized rating system.

Measuring your hotel and restaurant choices by the stars will guide you to the perfect honeymoon.

Planning a Bachelorette Party ...

Throwing a bachelorette party can be a fun or it can be a stressful part of being the maid of honor.

So, you can make planning the party more fun than stressful with these tips:

1.  The maid of honor plans and pays the party with the help of the bridal party.

2.  The guest list should include the bridal party, friends, close relatives, any future sisters-in-law, and depending on the evening's activities, the mother and mother-in-law of the bride.

3.  About a month before the wedding is the perfect time to have the party and depending on your budget, it can be as extravagant or simple as you choose. The maid of honor should have a few ideas in mind and then discuss with the bridesmaids to see what will fit everybody's budget.

4.  Many bachelorette parties are taking it on the road with Vegas, Miami and Cancun being popular party spots.

5.  Some ideas for parties closer to home:

* A restaurant followed by a bar
* Party games at home
* A spa day
* A comedy club
* Theater or concert event
* Hire an astrologer or fortune teller

Overall, the bachelorette party should be a time for the bride and her friends to relax and enjoy a night together.

Sometimes, we are invited to photograph the festivities.

If you'd like to schedule us for that, please call or text us at: (253)579-4040 or e-mail us today at: dana.lloyd.kehr@gmail.com

Organizing A Wedding Reception Line ...

Traditionally, receiving lines are an organized way for the bride and groom to greet guests. For a large wedding of 75 guests or more, a receiving line may be the best way to ensure all your guests are welcomed.

Your receiving line can have just the bride and groom and their parents. It can also include the best man and maid of honor. Either choice is perfectly acceptable.

Another choice for the receiving line is to have the line after the ceremony or upon arrival at the reception. Take into account the venues and how you want the day's schedule to flow when deciding.

The receiving line is a wonderful way to introduce and greet guests. Be sure to enjoy it.

We'll be happy to capture images from your line and your guests as they are greeted by your wedding party.

Selecting Your Wedding Gown ...

Your Wedding Gown -- it's a once-in-a-lifetime dress.

So, make sure your gown lives up to your dreams by following these tips:

1.  Bring a trusted friend with you to try on dresses. Often mothers and wedding attendants are included in wedding gown shopping.

2.  Try dresses on with shoes that are the same size heel you'll be wearing on the wedding day. Also, try the dresses on with proper undergarments.

3.  Try different styles of dresses to determine what is most flattering. Take pictures of you in the dress from different angles to get a feel for how you will look in the photographs on the wedding day.

4.  Check on alteration pricing.

5.  Pay the deposit with a credit card in case of a breach of contract.

Wedding gown shopping may be hard work but imagining your fiance’s face as you walk down the aisle, may make the shopping a little easier.

We'll catch his look - and yours too! Emotion and color, in a display of wedding images. Photos and videos if you desire!

Choosing Your Wedding Date ...

You may already have a time of year in mind when you would like to get married -- but if not, here are five ideas that may help:

1.  Consult with family and close friends to see when their schedules are free.

2.  Also, check your calendar to ensure your wedding won't conflict with either yours or your fiance's religious holidays.

3.  Although June, August and September are the most common wedding months, you may wish to hold your wedding in a different month. Consider the weather in your intended honeymoon location.

4.  When you are setting your wedding date, allow ample time to plan your wedding. It may take a few months to set up your vendors, get your invitations out, and finalize your wedding plans.

5.  If you have a venue where you want the wedding, check with them to see if it is available on the date you want.

It takes a little time to do all this ... but following these ideas, choosing your wedding date can be a check off item on your planning list.

Now, your wedding date will always be meaningful to you as a couple.

And, no matter what date you choose, we'd like to be there to photograph or video your wedding.

Planning Your Wedding Program

Wedding programs are increasing in popularity and are a great way to let your guests know what is on the agenda for the day.

Prepare your wedding program with your companion. This can be a fun and interesting project to work on together because you can be as creative as you want. Many couples choose to make the programs themselves but you could also order them from the same company where you've ordered your invitations and thank you notes.

Some ideas to include in the program:

*  Date and time of wedding
*  Elements of the ceremony including:
      Songs or music played
      Name of Officiant
      Names of bridal party members
Personal message from the bride and groom
      Special thanks
      Pictures

Your wedding program can add to the overall theme of your wedding and be a great way to let your guests know that you appreciate their attendance.

As your wedding photographers, we'd like to know in advance what is on the agenda for the day as well. That way, we can be prepared to capture all the special moments throughout the day in digital photos that will last a lifetime.

Planning Your Wedding Day Transportation

Typically, couples choose a limousine to transport them on the big day -- but you can add originality to your day by making your arrival as unique as your wedding.

Think about your wedding's theme and consider transportation that may add to it. If you are having a summer outdoor wedding, consider arriving on a tractor. If you both love to golf, arrive in a golf cart. Love to ride a chopper? Arrive on a motorcycle.

Maybe you'd like something more traditional but would prefer to not rent a limo. In that case, an SUV or classic car may be the perfect choice.

Whatever you choose, ask the vendor where you are renting for proof of license and insurance, what amenities are included in the price, and if a chauffer is included what his attire will be.

And, we want to be there as your wedding photographers to catch your arrival.

Please call or text us at: (253)579-4040 or e-mail us today at: dana.lloyd.kehr@gmail.com

Engraving Your Wedding Bands ...

Once you've chosen the perfect wedding band, you can add sentiment by having the band engraved. Ring engraving can take several weeks so plan ahead.

Ideas for engraving include:

*  the wedding date
*  a pet name
*  a sentimental expression

Whatever you choose to engrave, keep it short. Not much more than 25 characters can fit inside a ring.

At the wedding, be sure and have your photographer make an image of your rings and the engravings inside if possible.

If you haven't selected your wedding photographer yet, please give us a call or text us at: (253)579-4040. You can e-mail us today at: dana.lloyd.kehr@gmail.com

Greeting Your Wedding Guests ...

Having all the people you love and care about in one room at your reception is one of the wonderful aspects of your wedding day.

But, being able to spend time with each of them may be one of the hardest.

However -- with some thoughtful planning, you and your new spouse will be able to greet each guest and let them know you are grateful they are celebrating with you.

If you aren't planning on a formal receiving line, a great way to make sure that each guest is greeted is to table hop. Hit each table and say hello. This way, you'll work the room and make sure no one is missed. Don't forget to introduce your new spouse to any guests they may not have met before.

Pay attention to out of town guest. They went to an extra effort to get there. Make an extra effort to chat with them so they know you appreciate their attendance.

Mingle on the dance floor. Dancing is a perfect time to work your way through groups of people.

In your quest to make your guests feel welcome, don't forget your new spouse. Celebrate and enjoy your reception together.

We'd like to be there to capture all the excitement and energy of your reception.

The Perfect Wedding Proposal ...

A perfect proposal is when a man asks a woman to marry him with a loving heart and desire for a future together. Everything else is secondary to that request.

Here are a few hints to make the proposal go smoothly:

1.  Plan to ask her in a location that is special and memorable to you as a couple.
2.  Share your true feelings.
3.  Remember: the marriage should be the focus, not the ring.
4.  If needed, enlist the help of others, i.e. parents, her best friend, or a sibling.
5.  Remember: the proposal is the first step in the joyful wedding process, above all, relax and enjoy it.

And, when you are ready for your engagement photo, please give us a call. We'll capture the moment in an image you'll treasure throughout the years.

Preserving Your Wedding Memories ...

Besides the memories and the photos, another thing that remains after your wedding day is your wedding gown. It will be a special reminder of your wedding for years to come if you remember a few easy items:

1. Have your dress professionally dry cleaned as soon after the wedding as possible.
2. Have a family member or wedding attendant be responsible for taking your dress to the cleaners while you are on your honeymoon, if possible.
3. Tell the dry cleaner about any stains or loose stitching. Look inside the dress for stains as well. Makeup may have come off when you put the dress on and took it off.
4. Your dress should be stored in an acid-free box.
5. Store your dress; place it in a dry and temperate place.

Following these steps will ensure that your wedding dress is preserved for years to come.

Now -- if you'd like to preserve your wedding memories in photos, we hope you'll contact us.

When you do, please be sure and ask for our special new report: "The Seven Secrets You Must Know When Choosing Your Wedding Photographer!" It is packed with insider information that will help you decide who is the best-matched photographer for your wedding celebration.

Why An Engagement Session Is So Important ...

When you are ready to choose your wedding photographer, I always suggest you schedule an engagement session. It will help you in a number of ways.

Here’s how …

Meeting a photographer and seeing his selected photos at a trade show or local coffee shop isn’t always enough to know how you will “gel” with each other … or to know if you like working with him and the images he creates of you and your fiancĂ©.

An engagement photo session let’s you see him at work – so you can determine if he will be a good match with you, your family and guests. Plus, you’ll see exactly how he creates images of you that are beautiful, professional and pleasing. This will allow you to better relax on your wedding day, knowing your photos are going to turn out just fine.

Now, if you have children who will be part of the wedding ceremony -- an engagement session will give them an opportunity to meet your photographer and it will help them be more at ease on your wedding day.

If you haven’t selected your wedding photographer yet – we hope you’ll feel free to contact us to find out more about the services we offer. We would love to discuss your wedding plans – and schedule an engagement session with you.
