Planning for a Successful Wedding Day ...

The day of the wedding should be as stress-free as possible. Here are some hints that may help:

*  To make your day run smoothly, schedule your day beforehand so time doesn't fly by you.

*  Don't pull an all-nighter the night before.

*  Wake up early enough to have breakfast and a relaxing shower.

*  If your wedding is in the evening, eat a healthy lunch beforehand.

*  Having a bridesmaid assigned the task of helping to make sure you have food and water available throughout the day will make it easier for you to concentrate on getting ready.

*  Schedule your photographer to take as many pictures as possible before the ceremony. Time passes quickly between the ceremony and reception so plan accordingly.

*  Plan a few minutes in the day for you and your new spouse to spend alone. Whether on the drive from the ceremony to the reception or at the ceremony venue after everyone has left, take a few minutes to look at each other and enjoy your moment.

*  At the reception, plan the activities early in the evening. Guests may need to leave early and won't want to miss any of the festivities. Also, close the bar 30-60 minutes before the end.

And, when you're scheduling your day with us, we'll work with you to photograph your special moments as they happen.

A Word About Flowers ...

From the bouquet to the centerpieces, flowers add a wonderful touch to any wedding day.

Your florist will have many ideas on how to use flowers to add to the ambience of your wedding. Looking online and through wedding magazines for flower ideas can also inspire you.

When you are ordering your wedding flowers, keep in mind that many brides choose to have a smaller bouquet to toss rather than the one they walked down the aisle with.

If you decide to have a toss bouquet, ask your bridesmaid to be responsible for retrieving the extra bouquet when you’re ready for the toss.

Another flower tip: Flowers that are in season and locally grown will be easier on your budget.

And, speaking of budgets. Let us know what you are planning for your wedding photography and we can custom-make a photo and print package that will best meet your budget. Call us today!

Choosing Fabric for Your Wedding Dress ...

Most brides won't be lucky enough to walk into a bridal gown shop and find their dream gown waiting for them on the first mannequin they see.

Searching for the perfect wedding dress takes time, hard work, and patience.

While you search for the perfect dress, a little bit of knowledge about your fabric options will go a long way in making finding your dress easier. Here is some information that may help:

*  Brocade features interwoven, raised designs, characterized by a satin weave background, using one or more fillings to create the motif or artwork within the fabric.

*  Chiffon is a delicately sheer fabric with a simple weave. It is lightweight with a soft finish.

*  Dotted Swiss is a sheer, very lightweight, muslin fabric embellished with raised dots, evenly spaced throughout.

*  Eyelet Lace is identified with its small, unsymmetrical holes or perforations finished with a buttonhole stitch, often creating a floral pattern.

*  Faille is a shiny, tightly woven fabric made of silk or rayon and has a crosswise rib effect.

*  Moire is generally made of a polyester or silk taffeta patterned to glisten like water when seen in defused light.

*  Point d'esprit is a polyester net with the yarns sewn together in such a way as to create a diamond pattern

*  Polynet is the netting most often used to make yokes and sleeves. Schiffli embroidery is often found on this net and it is popular to attached beaded and sequined appliqués as well.

*  Organza is a transparent, simply woven fabric with a reflective, crystal-like appearance.

*  Satin is an opaque fabric, woven in a satin weave and features a smooth finish.

*  Italian Satin is a heavier satin fabric, brimming with body, featuring an antique sheen.

*  Taffeta is a popular wedding fabric, which may be used as either the lining or outer fabric of a gown. It will have either a matte or shiny finish and will be fairly stiff when used for the outer layer.

*  Tulle is tiny, meshed net of a silk, cotton or synthetic fabric, usually found in layers, covering a full satin skirt.

Searching for the perfect photographer takes many of the same skills as finding the perfect dress.

We'd like to make it easy for you, please call or text us at: (253)579-4040 or e-mail us today at: dana.lloyd.kehr@gmail.com

The 4 C's of Diamonds ...

Carat weight, color, clarity and cut, otherwise known as the four Cs, are the basics for anyone looking for a diamond. Knowing them will make selecting the engagement ring go smoothly.

Here's some information that may help:

1. Carat Weight
Carat weight is just as it sounds; it is the weight of the diamond. Different shapes may appear larger.

2. Color
The most expensive diamonds are the most translucent. The color is scaled from D to Z. D being the most colorless and Z being the most yellow. Diamonds color can be altered by treatments.

3. Clarity
Inclusions or a diamond's flaws are referred to by their clarity level starting with Flawless as the most expensive to Slightly Included.

4. Cut
The cut is the angles and proportions used to polish a diamond from the rough. The cut's depth, width and uniformity determine brilliance and durability.

Choosing Your Centerpieces ...

Your reception centerpieces have the ability to pull the room together and give each table a focal point. And, depending on how creative your centerpieces are, they can also be a talking point.

Determining your centerpiece selection for your wedding reception involves many variables. If your room is large, your centerpiece can also be on the larger side and vice versa. And, if your centerpiece is thin, it can be tall. But if your centerpiece is wide, it should be short enough for the guest to see each other around the table.

When you make your centerpiece selection, you will also want to take into account your wedding budget. If you have a smaller budget, a great way to make your dollar stretch is to have your centerpiece double as your wedding favor.

The most popular wedding centerpiece is a flower arrangement. But if you are looking for a few unique centerpiece ideas, mix and match the following ideas to create a centerpiece that is all your own:

· Photos of the Bride and Groom
· Floating candles
· Gift boxes
· Hat boxes
· Oversized martini or wine glasses
· Footed pedestal bowls
· Gel beads
· Vase gems
· Cranberries
· Cherries
· Popcorn kernels
· Coffee Beans
· Table runners
· Bamboo mats

Your centerpieces can enhance the overall theme of your wedding.

For better wedding photography, we like to do a pre-wedding engagement photo session. And some of our brides and grooms like to use their photos as part of their centerpieces.

Did I mention, the engagement session and a large, matted and framed print - are yours for FREE if you schedule your wedding coverage with us?

Choosing the Men's Wedding Attire ...

With all the excitement finding the wedding gown, it can be easy to overlook finding the right attire for the men in the wedding party.

When you're searching for the perfect attire for them, consider the following hints on buying a tux.

*  If you are planning on the groom and groomsmen wearing tuxedos, start shopping early. Remember, it may take awhile for the alterations and fittings.

*  Sign a contract with the rental store with specifics. Be sure it includes: designer, style, and style number, color, pick up dates, total cost, refund policy; and date everything must be returned.

*  Another thing to think about, a tuxedo may not be appropriate for your ceremony; typically men do not wear tuxedos in weddings that begin before 6 p.m.

*  Also, the men's attire should add to the overall theme of the wedding.

*  And, don't forget the fit. The groom and groomsmen should be able to move comfortably throughout the evening.

Registering for Gifts ...

Registering for gifts can be fun and hassle-free by following these handy tips:

1. Decide as a couple what you would like on your wish list.
2. Choose the stores you will register at by looking at their return policies and ease of shopping for your guests.
3. Register at department stores, specialty shops, and/or online depending on your preference.
4. Register at least six months before the wedding.
5. Plan on spending at least 2 hours at each store and make an appointment before you go.
6. Don't include registry information with the wedding invitation. Guests can learn where you have registered from your parents and wedding attendants.
7. The registry can be active for up to a year after the ceremony.

Finally, don't forget to send a gracious thank-you note for the gifts you receive.

Some of our brides like to include some of the smaller wedding prints or mini-wedding albums along with their thank you notes to the wedding party. If you'd like to think about that, let us know and we can work it into our tailor-made proposal for your wedding day coverage.

Setting the Mood Through Lighting ...

Many elements work together to create the ambiance at a wedding reception. One of those important elements is the lighting.

Harsh or too dim lighting can affect the overall "feel" of the reception. Luckily, many options are available in lighting to enhance your wedding reception.

Party rental companies can rent a variety of lighting fixtures for any type of reception.

If you are having an outdoor reception, pathway lights or net lighting for low bushes can add a touch of elegance to the lighting scheme. Also available are tiki torches for a more casual event or ornate chandeliers to illuminate inside a tent.

For an indoor reception, lights can be put on a dimmer and lightened or brightened throughout the evening as the events unfold. Another popular lighting option is pin spots. These focused beams of straight light can be used to intersect and highlight a specific focal point, for example the top of the wedding cake.

Consult a lighting professional for your wedding and reception. They will be best able to design and execute a lighting plan safely. They should also be able to discuss alternating light palates and give advice on what color tones will be most flattering for your specific event. Gold and amber tones are typically the most flattering but pink tones can add warmth to the area.

However you decide to illuminate your event, we would like to be there to capture the beautiful, complimentary tones of your wedding.

Wedding Day Clean-Up

Cleaning up after the reception will definitely be the last thing on your mind on your big day. You'll want to plan ahead so that when you and your new husband leave the event, the clean up will be taken care of in your absence.

Check your venue contract to determine what is included in your price. If clean-up isn't included, you'll want to appoint a responsible friend or family member to make certain the venue is left in excellent condition so that you'll receive your full refund from the cleaning deposit.

Your go-to person should have detailed instructions on what needs to be done and where items need to be placed. Ask friends or family members beforehand to be on the clean-up crew and let them know who the foreman is so they will be prepared and ready to work.

Items that may need to be cleaned up:

· Remove decorations
· Prepare all rental items for pick up or return
· Dismantle tables and chairs
· Remove linens and centerpieces
· Clean kitchen and take care of any leftovers
· Clean restrooms
· Empty trash
· Turn out lights and lock doors

Your venue will have a complete list included with the contract. Consider having your clean-up crew foreman complete a walk-through be the wedding day so she will know everything that needs to be done and where items need to be returned.

Also, make the clean-up go smoothly by providing containers to store any items that need to be removed in, i.e. Tupperware for leftovers and boxes for centerpieces.

You'll be able to relax and enjoy your honeymoon knowing that your reception site is in good hands. You'll also be able to relax knowing that your wedding photos have captured the memorable moments of your day, when you book with Northwest Wedding Photos.

The Music of the Night ...

Music sets the tone and can be recalled long after an event has taken place.

So, ask yourself: "When you make your music selection for your wedding, how do you want your event to be remembered?"

You can hire a band, a DJ, or both to set the tone for your wedding. Then, make sure you discuss fully with your professional what you expect at the event and give them a timeline of events so they can plan accordingly.

As your photographers, we like it when the DJ takes the lead in keeping the event moving along … that helps us get the candid shots and the other important shots we’ll need for your albums.

Involving Your Groom in Wedding Planning ...

The groom's involvement in wedding planning varies from couple to couple.

Some grooms may want to share in all aspects of the planning. Others are dragged kicking and screaming from catering interview to venue walk-through.

If your fiance is in the later group and you'd like him to be a little more involved, ask him what he would like to help with. If he isn't detail oriented, don't bog him down with every little part of the plan. Also, don't ask him for his opinion if you have already made a decision.

Whatever the groom's involvement in the wedding plans, he should be part of registering for gifts.
Start your life together by working as a team on the wedding planning.

We'd love to meet with you and the groom.

Choosing a Wedding Officiant ...

When searching for the perfect person to join you and your fiance in matrimony, many options are available.

You may start your search by asking friends and family for referrals. Your other wedding vendors may have suggestions as well.

If you are planning a religious ceremony, a priest or rabbi from your childhood church or synagogue may be the way you would like to go. Or, if you are going with a non-traditional ceremony, a friend may obtain a minister's license.

Talk with the potential officiant about what type of ceremony he/she will perform. If you are planning on writing your own vows or including readings or a special song, will the officiant incorporate that into the ceremony?

As with any of your wedding vendors, get all the specifics in writing. Include the date of the ceremony, fees, and any special restrictions.

Your wedding officiant should make your wedding day memorable.

And, what better way to remember your ceremony and wedding day then through photographs - we hope you'll think about letting us create those memories with you.

We offer high quality wedding images at an affordable price.

A Few Notes About Flowers ...

From the bouquet to the centerpieces, flowers add a wonderful touch to any wedding day.

Most likely, your florist will have many ideas on how to use flowers to add to the ambience of your wedding. Looking online and through wedding magazines for flower ideas can also inspire you.

When you are ordering your wedding flowers, keep in mind that many brides choose to have a smaller bouquet to toss rather than the one they walked down the aisle with.

If you decide to have a toss bouquet, ask a bridesmaid to be responsible for retrieving the extra bouquet when you’re ready for the toss.

Another flower tip:

Flowers that are in season and locally grown will be easier on your budget.

And, speaking of budgets. Let us know what you are planning for your wedding photography and we can custom-make a photo and print package that will best meet your budget. Call us today!

Your Youngest Guests ...

Many weddings include children in the ceremony and as guests.

You'll want to plan ahead for the reception so the children will be happily occupied and you and your adult guests can enjoy the festivities.

Having a kids’ table and a trusted babysitter or teenage relative put in charge of the children can be a great way to keep the children together and happy. You may want to consider having two people in charge to handle bathroom breaks or necessitated visits to parents.

Having quiet activities at the table for the children will keep them engaged. Crayons, stickers and mini-games at their place settings make great children’s favors and activities.

If you are serving a meal that they will have to wait for, have a small, un-messy snack for them to enjoy.

Hope to hear from you soon. We want to be your wedding photographers.

Some Notes on Tipping!

Tipping vendors shows your appreciation to the hard-working people making your day special.

1. Remember when planning your budget to account for tipping.

2. Designate a person responsible for handing out the tips. The best man may be a good choice.

3. Before the wedding day, place each tip in a separate envelope and label.

4. In case you forgot a vendor or need to tip an additional amount, have an envelope with more money available.

5. Talk to your vendors about tipping policies. They may have included the tip in the invoice.

6. The wait staff will split the gratuity. Give 15-20 percent of the food and drink bill to the person in charge.

7. If you have hired a driver, tip 15-20 percent.

8. It is appropriate but not necessary to tip the deejay or musicians. Typically $25 each is reasonable.

9. Bartenders receive 10 percent of the bill.

10. Delivery truck drivers should receive between $5-$10 each.

We like tips too ... and sometimes – we “tip” our couples.

Here’s how:

If you refer your friends or family to us for a wedding package – and they use our services – we send you $50 cash. Yup.

It’s our way of saying “thanks” for thinking of us. Your referrals are the highest compliment we ever receive.

Let the Sunshine In ...

Whether you are having an outdoor ceremony or taking pictures outdoors, the weather can play a big part in your day.

So, don’t let a perfect sunny day be ruined by a sunburn.

Apply a sunscreen with a minimum of 15 SPF at least 20 minutes before going outside. Spread sunscreen onto all exposed skin including your neck, feet, ears, and scalp.

Your sunscreen should be reapplied every two to three hours. Test the sunscreen before the wedding day for greasiness and possible allergic reaction.

Your first few days of marriage should be spent celebrating, not applying aloe.

To schedule your photographer for your beautiful day come rain or shine, please call or text us today at: (253)579-4040 or e-mail us at:  dana.lloyd.kehr@gmail.com

Picture Perfect Make-Up ...

Unless you’re an international supermodel getting your picture taken all day every day, your wedding day will probably be the most photographed day of your life.

So, you’ll want to look your best in the photos and your makeup will play a big role.

Here are a few hints that may help --

*  Remember, in most cases -- understated makeup works best on camera.

*  Classic colors like pink and peach work well for light skin tone. Copper, indigo and wine look great for dark skin tones.

*  Don’t forget the waterproof mascara – and go easy on the eyeliner. You won’t want the heat or your joyful tears causing raccoon eyes.

*  A long-wearing lipstick in a shade matching your blush will compliment your look throughout the day.

*  If you wear glitter, it will create a lot of small dots that look like blemishes on your skin. In most cases, those flaws will need to be airbrushed out.

*  Don't have your make-up person spend a lot of time fussy over flaws and blemishes. Usually a good foundation, lipstick, nails, and light eye-liner will do. The rest can be corrected in camera or Photoshop if it is needed at all.

To enjoy your day in the spotlight; relax knowing your makeup is picture perfect.

The First Dance ...

Your first dance as husband and wife can be one of the most memorable moments of your reception.

To make sure it’s a good memory, consider practicing your dance for a few weeks before the event to make sure you are in step.

Lessons can also give you added confidence while you shake your groove thing. Your first dance can be waltz, tango, or swing, just make sure you and your partner feel comfortable.

We do lots of weddings – and I always think during the first dance that it would be nice to have a video of that event – but many brides just haven’t included that in the budget. That’s why this year – we’ve added a new service – a custom-made video that will include some of the most important elements of the ceremony and reception … so you can capture the emotions of the moment on video.
Be sure and ask about it when you contact us.

The wedding day revolves around the ceremony. With so many choices, choose what feels right for you and your fiancé.

Are you interested in a religious ceremony? Civil ceremony? Or a spiritual ceremony?

If you and your fiancé are of different faiths, you can incorporate religious traditions from both sides. Whatever you choose, it is your day and the ceremony will set the tone for it.

Location! Location! Location

Are you imagining a sunset in the background as you exchange vows? Or are you planning a large cathedral wedding?

Either way, the location plays an important part of establishing the atmosphere for your wedding.

If you are planning an outdoor wedding, you should have a back up plan in case the weather doesn’t cooperate. Having large tents, heaters and coolers on hold can help ensure that your event stays outdoors.

Because there are so many places you can have your ceremony, we like to be invited to the wedding rehearsal … or at least do a walk-through well in advance of the actual wedding day.

The reason:

We will be better able to determine where we’ll need the camera at various times throughout the ceremony if we are able to do some advance planning.

We’ll also be able to check lighting and other equipment we’ll need to bring to insure your wedding photos are of the highest quality possible.

"Extra! Extra! Read All About It!"

In the days when newspapers were the place where people got the latest news, the corner newsboys used to yell: "Extra! Extra! Read All About It!" And patrons would quickly pony up their money to be able to read the latest news.

With your wedding -- you may find that newspaper announcements will still let you spread the good news quickly.

The announcements may be worded by you or there may be a form to fill out. Contact your newspaper to find out the details.

If you are planning on running a photo with the announcement, ask for specifics: Will prints be returned? Do they accept digital photos?

Announcing your wedding two to three months in advance is traditional but can be run up to a year in advance. A marriage announcement can be run as soon as you’ve said the vows.

We like to do a pre-wedding engagement photo session. So, if you know what your newspaper needs for a photo – we’ll be happy to provide just what they want.

Did I mention, the engagement session and a large, matted and framed print – are yours for FREE if you schedule your wedding coverage with us?

Please call or text us today at: (253)579-4040 or e-mail us at:  dana.lloyd.kehr@gmail.com

Setting the Mood for Your Wedding ...

When you think of your dream wedding, what feelings come to mind? What colors, music, and flowers would express those feelings?

Instead of picking out what is “in” for the season, think of what mood you would like to set for your big day. Think of situations and settings where you felt that mood and try to re-create it to set the ambience for the wedding.

Whether you want something wild and funky or serene and peaceful, it should be your dream day, a reflection of how you want to feel.

When we photograph your wedding, we do everything we can to catch the mood and feeling in our high-definition digital photos.

When you call us for more information, please be sure and ask for our special report on: "The Seven Secrets You Must Know When Choosing Your Wedding Photographer!" This will save you a lot of headaches later. It will give you information that other photographers don't want you to know.

We have wedding photo packages starting at $595.

Your Wedding Bouquet ...

With so many options and decisions to make regarding your wedding, choosing your wedding bouquet may be just one more thing to puzzle over.

As you talk to your florist, keep in mind these bouquet types to make narrowing down your choice easier:

*  Round - A tight cluster or loose arrangement of flowers in a generally round shape

*  Nosegay - Small and round-shaped including greenery and ribbon. Typically mounted in a cone-shaped holder

*  Hand-tied - simple grouping of flowers with exposed stems, tied with ribbon

*  Cascade - full bouquet at top that tapers downward. Typically includes flowing foliage and ribbon.

Distinctive Wedding Desserts ...

The traditional wedding cake may not fit into the theme of your wedding or you may just want to have an out of the ordinary dessert to liven things up.

Whatever your reason, if you decide NOT to have a wedding cake at your reception, you still have plenty of sweet options to offer your guests:

*  Mini pastries
*  Attended ice cream buffet
*  Krispy Kreme donut cake
*  Chocolate fountain
*  Cannoli Bar
*  Gourmet caramel and chocolate apples coordinated to your wedding colors
*  Chocolate-tower with fruit

Your caterer will also be an excellent resource for distinctive desserts.

They may have a dream-dessert they have been dying to try out. Also, they may suggest a variety of desserts that can be served together as a dessert bar.

Even if you choose the traditional route and serve a wedding cake, you may still opt for an additional dessert. Whatever you choose to dish up, your guests will be sure to go home in a sweetened condition.

If you are planning a special dessert treat for your wedding reception, we'd like to capture that notable aspect of your wedding day along with all the memorable details with our quality, digital photography.

Give us a call at: (253)579-4040 or email us at: dana.lloyd.kehr@gmail.com  to set up an appointment today for your FREE engagement session ... and request my FREE report on the "Seven Secrets You Must Know When Choosing Your Wedding Photographer!"

What to pack for your honeymoon ...

With all the hustle and bustle of planning for the wedding day, packing for the honeymoon can easily be overlooked. Your honeymoon should be a relaxing get-away.

So, here are some packing tips to help:

*  A list with all the items you will need can be a handy way to double check that you have everything necessary.

* A toiletry bag containing empty bottles for your shampoo, conditioner, and lotions will save you from wasting time looking for bath products. And remember airline restrictions if you are flying.

*  Consider buying duplicates of everyday use items like a toothbrush and deodorant. Pack these in your suitcase beforehand so you won't have to frantically pack them on the day of the wedding.

*  Be sure to keep your important documents and medicine in your carry-on luggage.

*  Pack a spare change of clothes in your carry-on in case of lost luggage. Also, pack a small just-in-case bag including band-aids, aspirin, Pepto Bismal tablets, and aloe.

Don't let packing mishaps spoil your relaxation. Plan ahead so you can enjoy your time together.

Bring back some snapshots from your honeymoon - and we can help you place those in your wedding album when you return. Our new coffee-table style albums are VERY popular right now - and we are excellent designers. All your friends will want one like yours if we do it!

Hope to hear from you soon. We want to be your wedding photographers.

Your Wedding Day Hairstyle ...

Your wedding day hairstyle should compliment your gown, veil, and face.

Sounds easy, right?

But it may be difficult to decide the best way to pull your complete look together.

A great place to start is by looking at all types of magazines, not only bridal magazines.

Once you have an idea or two of what you would like to do with your hair, think about your dress. Are there elements of your gown you want to highlight? If so, you'll want to make sure that your hair doesn't cover them but rather, accents those unique elements.

Consult with your hairstylist about your narrowed-down choices. Does she have any suggestions that take into account your hair type, the formality of your wedding and your ensemble? Your stylist should have ideas on what will suit you.

Once you've discussed your options and chosen the hairstyle that will be the most complimentary, do a trial run. Incorporate the veil or any other hair accessories you will be wearing on the wedding day.

Also, when perfecting the hairstyle for your wedding, get a trim and color your hair with enough time before the wedding to look natural.

As your wedding photographer, we'll be there to capture all the details of your wedding attire. Please call us at (253)579-4040 or email us for an appointment for a FREE engagement session at: dana.lloyd.kehr@gmail.com

Saving Your Wedding Cake ...

Saving the top tier of the wedding cake to be eaten on the one year anniversary is a tradition many couples choice to honor.

If you are planning on saving your cake, you'll want to plan ahead so that the top tier is preserved carefully.

*  First, as soon as possible, place the cake in the freezer for 1 to 2 hours to quick freeze.
*  Second, remove the cake from the freezer and wrap loosely in plastic wrap.
*  Then place the wrapped cake into a cake box.
*  Finally, cover the box with more plastic wrap and place in the freezer.

These steps will preserve the cake for the year.

When you are ready to eat the cake:

*  Plan to start the thawing process a couple days before you plan to eat the cake.
*  Remove the cake from the freezer for 48 hours to thaw in the refrigerator.
*  Then leave the cake at room temperature 2 to 3 hours to completely thaw.

Eat and enjoy your top tier of the wedding cake, remembering the fond memories of the wedding day.

And, while you're reminiscing about your wedding day, what better way to remember your ceremony and wedding day than by reviewing your photographs created by Northwest Wedding Photos.

We offer high quality wedding images at a very affordable price.

P.S. Another idea for your first anniversary celebration, if you don't want to freeze your wedding cake, inquire with your baker if they will do a fresh replica of the top tier of your cake for your anniversary.

Have Your Cake -- and Eat It Too ...

With so many innovations in cake decorating, you can easily have the cake of your dreams. And, a few hints will help make those dreams reality.

*  First, ask others for recommendations for a cake designer. Your other wedding vendors may have worked with a favorite baker in the past.

*  Second, interview and review a few bakers' portfolios. Be sure and taste samples of their work. You wouldn't want to serve a beautiful cake that tastes awful to your guest.

*  Third, once you have selected your cake designer, work closely with them to ensure they share your vision of the cake. Bakers can match your wedding gown lace, your wedding colors, or the flowers. Customize your cake so that it fits perfectly with the rest of your wedding ambience.

*  One final note, sign a contract. The contract should include all the details of the cake as well as the wedding details such as time and place.

Cutting the cake as a couple and feeding it to each other is a time honored tradition that is always fun to capture as a wedding image. If you have it planned, we can create an photo image that you'll always remember.

My Mom Is Driving Me Crazy ...

Many women have grown up imagining their perfect wedding day.

And just as many moms have pictured what their daughters' wedding days.

But, just how often are these two visions the same?

Unfortunately, not often.

Wedding planning can be stressful when parties don't agree but there are some ways to lessen the stress.

*   Set boundaries early. Let your mother know that she is important to the planning process by explaining what role you would like her to play.

*  Stay focused on the things you would like her help in arranging. If your mom has a particular strength, put her in charge of something related to that talent.

*  Also, recognize which battles are worth fighting. Consider your wedding planning as a practice session for an important skill in any marriage: Compromise.

Now, one of the nice things about working with us is that we've been involved in the planning for your wedding photos and, Nancy will be there to make certain you get the images you've requested. (We raised 8 kids, so I guarantee you she knows how to get things done! LOL!)

Wedding Invitations ...

The invitations are the first impression many of your guests will have of your wedding.

So, when choosing your invitation, consider how the invitation fits in with the overall theme of your wedding.

An invitation can set the tone for the wedding. If you are having a formal elegant wedding, your invitation can be classic so your guests know what to expect. Or if you are planning an easy going, outdoor informal get together, your invitation should indicate that as well. You can incorporate your flower choice in the invite or set your color theme.

Your invitations can be a wonderful opportunity to not only get the information across but also be a reflection of your wedding and therefore you as a couple.

We like to do a pre-wedding engagement photo session. So, if you would like a photo to accompany your invitation, we'll be happy to provide just what they need.

Did I mention, the engagement session and a large, matted and framed print are yours for FREE if you schedule your wedding coverage with us?

Hints for Your Wedding Attendants ...

Your wedding attendants perform a variety of tasks before and on your special day.

So, when choosing your Maid of Honor and Best Man, let them know what responsibilities you would like them to perform.

The following is a flexible guideline to help determine your expectations:

Maid of Honor:

*  helps address invitations
*  organizes the bridal shower
*  organizes the bridesmaids' wedding attire
*  attends the rehearsal
*  helps with the bride dress
*  holds the groom's wedding ring during the ceremony
*  acts as a legal witness by signing the wedding certificate

Best Man:

*  organizes a pre-wedding party
*  helps the groom remember to bring the marriage license to the ceremony
*  holds the bride's ring during the ceremony
*  acts as a legal witness by signing the wedding certificate
*  Gives the first toast to the wedding couple

One of the things we also find helpful is for your photographers (hey! We hope that's us!) to do a walk thru of your venue with you PRIOR to the wedding day itself. Gives us a good idea about where certain parts of the ceremony will take place, the equipment we'll need, photo ideas, etc.

Hope to hear from you soon. We want to be your wedding photographers.

Sending Thank You Notes ...

Sending thank-you notes is an important way to show your appreciation to your guests.
To follow proper etiquette, consider these timelines:

1. Send notes within three weeks for shower gifts; three months for presents given on the wedding day; and within three weeks for gifts received after the wedding.

2. Each gift should receive a separate thank-you note. Don't combine a shower and wedding thank-you.

3. Thank-you notes should be handwritten and should also mention the item and if possible how you will use the gift.

Following the above guidelines when writing your thank-you notes will let your guests know that you appreciate them celebrating this special occasion with you.

Hope to hear from you soon. We want to be your wedding photographers.

Wedding Day Anxiety ...

Even if you are one hundred percent positive that you are about to embark on the future of your dreams, wedding day anxiety can hit you.

Whether it's the thought of all eyes on you as you walk down the aisle or the knowledge that your life is changing, it is natural to feel a little panicked on your wedding day.

So, if you feel anxious on your big day, here are a few techniques to help you calm down:

*  Visualize a successful event. You can practice this technique leading up to the wedding by imagining all the different aspects of the day and completing each task successfully.

*  Exercise. Exercising leading up to the wedding day is an excellent means of centering yourself. For some brides jogging clears their heads, while others may prefer yoga. Whichever suits you, use it to help still your anxious thoughts.

*  Rehearse. Practice the aspects of the day that are causing you stress. If it is walking down the aisle, practice it as many times as necessary to make you feel comfortable. If you are nervous about the first dance, put on your dancing shoes and practice with your fiancee as much as possible before the wedding day.

*  Overall, if you are feeling anxious about the wedding, take a few deep breaths and concentrate on what happens after this stressful day: a wonderful marriage.

On the wedding day, we know how important it is for our brides to relax with the knowledge and confidence that their wedding photos will be done to their liking. And, because we do pre-planning with our couples and provide a FREE engagement photo session, our brides know they will be creating beautiful images they will enjoy for years to come.

The Big Send-Off ...

When the bride and the groom leave the reception, traditionally the guests send them off in a celebratory manner.

Throwing rice at the happy couple as they leave has been the most popular send-off dating back to the Middle Ages when guests would throw wheat as a symbol of fertility. But in recent years, rice has decreased in popularity because of potential harm it can cause birds.

So, if you do not want the guests throwing rice, planning an alternative send-off gives you an opportunity to be creative.

Tossing rose petals has been gaining popularity as a symbol of happiness and beauty. Grass and flower seeds are another popular option.

And, if you'd rather not have something "tossed" at you while you're wearing your formal attire, consider releasing butterflies or doves as you exit. Either option can add a festive element of nature to your wedding day.

A few cautions on your send-off: Keep in mind that weather may hamper your plans and check with your location vendor on their policy.

With all the fun and creative options available, it should be easy to decide how you would like to celebrate as you leave the reception.

Our quality wedding photography will catch the formal and candid moments of the wedding so your wedding day and your guests will be remembered for the rest of your life.

Wedding Attire: Gloves ...

Wearing gloves as part of the wedding ensemble adds a formality to the outfit and, the longer the glove, the more formal the attire.

When you choose if you'll wear gloves and what length of glove, keep the formality of your wedding in mind. The bridesmaid should not be more formally dressed than the bride, so their glove length should be the same or shorter than the bride's gloves.

If you are planning on removing your gloves during the ceremony, practice beforehand so the movement isn't awkward. Take the gloves off and give them to the maid of honor at the same time you hand her the bouquet.

Gloves may be worn throughout the ceremony.

You can choose to make a small slit at the seam on the ring finger to be able to easily put the ring on. Or the ring can be put on over the glove, if it will fit. Also, fingerless glove styles are available.

Whatever style of glove you choose, you'll want to be comfortable throughout the ceremony and reception.

And, you'll want us to create some special images of your ring on your wedding day.

Wedding Attire: Unique Headpieces ...

If you are looking for a headpiece that is a little out of the ordinary, try out these unique alternatives:

*  Profile Comb: An ornamental comb worn with an up do.

*  Garden Hat: A wide brimmed hat that can be worn with our without a veil.

*  Juliet Cap: A small cap that sits on the crown of the head. Can be worn with a veil.

*  Snood: An encasement for a bun worn at the back of the head. Can attach a veil to the bottom.

*  Wreath: Natural materials such as flowers or greenery that wraps around the head.

*  And, if none of these options are what you are looking for, perhaps a more traditional headband or tiara would work best for you.

Remember -- when you are looking for a headpiece, keep in mind what type of wedding you are planning and if the headpiece will compliment your wedding gown.

Blending Religions at a Wedding ...

Planning a wedding ceremony can be complicated. Planning a ceremony where more than one religion is represented can be a nightmare. But it doesn't have to be if you and your fiance are flexible and respectful.

Communication is vital in this situation between you and your fiance as well as with the clergy who will perform your ceremony.

When you choose your clergy, talk to him or her about what you would like from a ceremony. It may be possible to find one officiant who can include elements from both your religions or you may wish to have two officiants, one from each religion.

If you are having two officiants, meet with both at the same time to plan the ceremony. Ask if there are religious requirements that will need to be included in the ceremony as you plan. Including an explanation of those rituals in the program will help your guests understand the meaning.

As your wedding photographers, we'd like to know in advance of the religious elements incorporated into your ceremony as well. That way, we can be prepared to capture all the special moments throughout the ceremony in digital photos that will last a lifetime.

Choosing the Perfect Wedding Dress: Sleeves ...

Knowing the types of sleeves available will help you in your perfect wedding gown search.
Here are a few styles:

*  Capped sleeves - hug just at the top of the shoulder.

*  Petal sleeves - two pieces of fabric that overlap on the upper arm, creating what looks like a flower petal.

*  Juliet sleeves - puff around the upper arm and then are fitted down to the wrist.

*  Poet sleeves - fitted down to the forearm then flare out.

*  Bell sleeves - long, fitted sleeves that flare gently at the wrist.

*  Bishop sleeves - full through the forearm and gather by the wrist at the cuff.

As you shop for a wedding gown, if you know the proper terms for what you are looking for in a dress, you'll be able to narrow down your search quickly and easily.

The Wedding Budget ...

OK. OK. You've got the guy. You've got the ring. Now all you need to make your perfect wedding a reality is the budget, right?

We admit -- while not very romantic, setting the budget in the beginning of your planning process can make your wedding day a dream ... and not a financial nightmare.

To determine the budget, you and your fiancee should calculate what you have to spend. Also, both sets of parents should be consulted on whether or not they will be contributing and for how much.

Once you've established how much money you have to spend, determine what amount you would like to spend on each part of the wedding. Spending the time to set a budget at the beginning will save you worrying about finances and you'll be able to focus on that great guy you've got.

Now, remember: when it is all said and done, about the only thing you'll have left to bring back the memories of your special day will be your photos. So, be sure to plan on spending enough to make certain you get the images you'll want.

When you contact us for more information, please be sure and ask for our special report on: "The Seven Secrets You Must Know When Choosing Your Wedding Photographer!" This will save you a lot of headaches later.
